Women’s Care Florida, a Tampa-based medical group specializing in women’s health, has named Ellen Bower its new chief operating officer.

In her new role, Bower will help lead the organization’s role in executing the company’s Florida expansion plans. She will also oversee central operations, including the organization’s laboratory expansion, statewide practice operations, facilities management, education and development, and continuous improvement.

Prior to her promotion, Bower served as the VP of the Tampa Bay area for Women’s Care Florida for two years. Her leadership experience includes overseeing physician practice operations, central support services, health information and privacy management and compliance.

“Ellen embodies our core values of accountability, excellence and quality,” Alistair Madle, CEO of Women’s Care Florida, said in a statement. “She is a first-class leader who has clearly demonstrated in her time with us that she will accelerate our journey to become the leading women’s health care group in America.”

Founded in 1998, Women’s Care Florida has grown to include 93 locations across the state including four Women’s Health Centers and a pathology lab. Women’s Care Florida is the third largest physician group in Tampa Bay with 400 local physicians, according to Tampa Bay Business Journal research.
